After a very successful program at Luther Burbank, we're thrilled to offer programming at Herzl-Ner Tamid Conservative Congregation this fall! Our goal is to make the sport accessible to Mercer Island residents and those in the greater Seattle area. We offer inclusive youth and adult programs that teach, collaboration, leadership and connection to the environment. MI Rowing strives to foster a safe and supportive space where all individuals regardless of their race, gender, background, or abilities, feel respected and included.
Because we are in our first year, attendance at fall regattas (rowing competitions) will be limited but we aim to organize friendly competitions with local programs. Our main focus this year will be to educate the next generation of rowers and coxswains, increase awareness of the sport, and to build community.
Prior to the first session, rowers are required to complete the following:
Float Test – This safety requirement must be completed and documentation uploaded prior to your first session in iCrew
US Rowing - necessary steps to ensure proper liability coverage
Sign up for learn to row US Rowing membership and pay the $10 program fee
Sign the general US Rowing waiver
Sign the US Rowing SafeSport waiver
MIRC Liability Waiver & Photo Release - sign and upload to iCrew profile
Rower Profile - Complete all required fields in iCrew profile
Alex Barnaby-Brown will continue to be our head coach for Mercer Island Rowing. With almost 7 years of experience coaching everyone from novices to masters, Alex has the skills we need for our new program! You can meet Alex this fall by signing up for our fall programs!
